Sport Massage
To break down the scar tissue by realigning the muscle fibres to return to their original state
Service Description
Following an injury, the muscle is replaced by scar tissue (a thick fibrous tissue replacing healthy tissue) which can cause muscle weakness, decreased range of movement and pain which can also be referred. The purpose of a sports massage for injuries is to break down the scar tissue by realigning the muscle fibres to return to their original state. Other benefits of a sports massage include; relieving muscular tension, the break down of muscle adhesions and knots, mobilise soft tissue and pain reduction. It can also help some athletes to calm their nerves and anxiety, allowing them to achieve their optimum performance. The aim of a post event massage is to remove metabolic waste (lactic acid) that is accumulated during activity, to reduce joint stiffness and reduce the onset of muscle soreness. This allows the body and muscles to recover better following a sporting event.
